I Poo in Blue

Did I really just see this on TV??

An ad for denim....wait for it....diapers. Whaa?! You read that correctly. Huggies has indeed created limited edition jeans diapers. And they're not kidding.

The commercial starts with a Euro voiceover of "My diaper is full -- full of chic." and ends with the tagline, "The coolest you'll look pooping your pants." Oh and don't forget the middle bits: "When it's a number two, I look like number one." and "I poo in blue." That's copywriting gold, y'all.

But don't just read about it, see for yourself:

Wow. I'm kind of freaked out by the fact that they're sexualizing a male baby in the ad, but then again, I also think the whole thing is kind of totally hysterical (and gross at the same time...). See? Flip. Flop. Any ad that makes you unsure of whether you love it or hate it must be pretty good. I'm definitely weirded out by the whole thing, but I'm also pretty amused, so kudos, ad agency.

Though I heard they turn your baby's legs blue... Oops.

Oh, and Sarah: Take a look below - this could be soon-to-be-born-at-any-minute baby Caroline in just a few short months. Huzzah! ;)

Oops! Did I just ruin the surprise of what I'm getting little Caroline for an arrival gift? Darn. (ha ha)

So what do you think? Heinous or hysterical? Would you buy these for your baby?

A fun cuppa joe on a rainy Wednesday

Goooood morning! It's Wednesday and it's rainy. I'm dragging. I'm not normally a caffeine drinker, but I think a cuppa might do me some good this morning. I'd love to stumble into a coffee shop and find this amazing branding suite:

All three concepted, designed and created by Rachel Dangerfield of Quail Creative, who just graduated from Columbus College of Art & Design - hello, talented.

Love this. And now I'm off to find some sustenance... Hope you have a great hump day! Be back later!

A sticker for our gas-guzzlin' friends...

This post is dedicated to my sweet, kind, tree-hugger (but not dirty-hippie) boyfriend, B. ;)

B, I know you're going to want some of these to post around town:

What is it?

Let's zoom in a bit:

Yup, it's a magnet - wait for a quiet moment and slap that baby on your neighborhood's biggest gas-guzzler - et voila! Guerrilla eco-campaign!

Magnet by Topos Graphics and Sarah Riegelmann; available to buy here.

Stupid is as stupid does

Diesel's new "Be Stupid" campaign is a boggling mix of brilliance and (obviously) idiocrasy for me. The taglines are pretty great. I didn't include a few of the ads because I've read that a lot of people were supremely offended by the messages they send re: women (one ad shows a woman flashing a security camera and another shows a woman taking a picture of her crotch). They didn't really faze me, but then again, I liked all of the Jackass movies, so let's just say that my sense of humor isn't the most uppity.

Love or hate these, you have to give the ad designers some credit for concept and tag:

The headline above is wise beyond its stupidity!

Kinda funny and great, eh?

Brains perform best when they're hydrated

Happy Friday! Uber-extreme blizzard warnings for today aside, I thought I'd try to help get your Friday started off on a good note. Believe me when I say that if you watch this video, it will get make you chortle at least a bit - seriously, trust me on this one.

*Two small disclaimers: 1) If you're afraid of ventriloquist dummies, do not watch this (clowns freak me out, but I'm mostly okay with dummies). 2) There is music with this video, so plug in your headphones or turn down the volume if you're at work. Otherwise, enjoy!

Seriously, this is an oversize marionette dancing to cheesy early 90s music. What is not to love about this ad? And an ad for water, no less. Kudos, ad peeps, kudos.

Found here.

P.S. Skip to 1:06-1:14 in the video if you don't have time to watch the whole thing (come on though - it's only a minute!) but can spare a second or two to see sheer awesomeness.

Split down the middle

Card originally seen on Pretty Pretty Paper.

Having worked in legal marketing for several years, I saw tons and tons of boilerplate, boring business cards for various types of attorneys. No one loves a divorce or a divorce laywer, but I love that this Mr. Mahon is making things more...practical. A little sense of humor can't hurt things, right? Just split the card down the middle and you're both armed with info. Kinda wrong; kinda funny.

Undercover brother?

Photos from CBS

I know this is super dorky of me, AND we've been watching less TV to boot, but I'm really siked to check out the show Undercover Boss. The teaser previews are on CBS now and the show premieres after the Super Bowl in February (2/7).

The "plot" is brilliant: C-level executives go undercover in their own companies and work alongside their employees (often the lowest level workers) without the employees knowing who the exec is. The first episode has the President and C.O.O. of Waste Management actually cleaning out porta-potties, collecting trash from a landfill, and so on.

It's a genius marketing scheme for the companies participating, too - free PR for the execs who are willing to do this, and even better PR if they seem like approachable, nice people while doing it.

I've already set my DVR. Now I'm just interested to see how the episode with the CEO of Hooters goes...

BMW and Audi play a game of chess

The importance of vigilance:

Audi put up a billboard in Santa Monica touting the challenge: “Your move, BMW” - only to find themselves outdone by a much larger billboard from Santa Monica BMW with the simple headline "Checkmate." I give major props to Juggernaut Advertising for spotting the Audi billboard and proposing the clever BMW billboard in response.

Just goes to show the importance of a brand (or their advertising agency) knowing their market and atmosphere.

Greenberg movie trailer

All of the self-proclaimed intelligentsia, indie flick connoisseurs, and introspective mid-30s hipsters around the country are probably falling all over themselves with excitement for this upcoming movie:

Could be awful. Could be awesome. Focus Features usually does really good stuff. I guess we'll see which way it goes when it comes out...

On a side note, I'm excited to see Ben Stiller do a movie that's more in the direction of Royal Tenenbaums than that of Along Came Polly. Ugh.
